Ajouté le 8/12/2011

The George Washington Colonials fell to the Loyola Greyhounds at home, 65-55. The Greyhounds took a 10 point lead into halftime and never looked back. Early turnovers by the Colonials let Loyola take the early lead and they maintained it all through the first half.

In the second half, George Washington couldn't muster enough offense to catch back up with Loyola as the Greyhounds held their lead all through the second half, never letting George Washington get back into the game or a chance to overtake the lead. Guard Dylon Cormier led the way for Loyola, scoring 26 points and bringing down 9 rebounds.

For George Washington, forward David Pellom led the way with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Early turnovers for the Colonials gave up the lead, but overall they only turned the ball over 14 times.

WatchRepairNY.com Educates Consumers About Luxury Watches, Recommending Watch Repair Every 2 to 5 Years

Ajouté le 7/12/2011

Manhattan Time Service - a watch repair service center available online at http://www.WatchRepairNY.com - is encouraging owners of luxury watches to educate themselves about the repairs and maintenance work their timepieces require. Specializing in TAG Heuer, Rado, and Rolex watch repair, among other popular brands, Manhattan Time Service is backed by over 33 years of industry experience, in addition to state-of-the-art tools to facilitate top-quality maintenance and calibration.

"We encourage our customers to think of their luxury watches like luxury cars. The same way that Ferraris and Lamborghinis require regular upkeep to stay in top condition, new and pre-owned watches by top brands like Rado, TAG Heuer, and Rolex must also maintained every couple of years. And just like you wouldn't trust just any mechanic with your Ferrari, your luxury watch should also be serviced in the hands of professionals," said Mitchell Lodowski, Master Watchmaker and Founder of the Manhattan Time Service company.

Luxury watches need to be serviced every two to five years, Lodowski notes, depending on their type and functionality. Manhattan Time Service recommends that owners of water-resistant luxury watches have their timepieces inspected and pressure tested every two years to maintain the same level of resistance; during this kind of maintenance, the company's watch repair specialists inspect and, if necessary, replace the timepiece's gaskets and seals.

Owners of automatic or manual windup luxury watches should bring their timepieces in every three to five years, Manhattan Time Service recommends. When it comes to a Rolex watch repair, the company offers a meticulous process; after removing the watch movement, it is taken apart by a watch specialist and each component of the movement is cleaned by Manhattan Time Service's top rated, state-of-the-art computer-operated machinery. After the cleaning, the watch repair NY company's technicians reassemble the watch movement, lubricating the parts in accordance with the manufacturer's precise recommendations. Parts that receive a high level of wear are replaced, including the mainspring, reverser wheel, and other components.

Following reassembly, Manhattan Time Service subjects all luxury timepieces to a series of rigorous tests. Each watch is calibrated using a computerized timer and inspected both visually and technically to ensure that all functionalities are in working order. Finally, the watchmaker employs an automatic winder to simulate four days of use in various positions. Manhattan Time Service offers a one-year warranty on all of its repairs, with a six-month warranty available for vintage luxury watches.

"Owners of battery-operated luxury watches must be particularly careful about their repair schedules," said one of Mitchell’s sons, Thomas Lodowski, an advanced level watchmaker. Although many wearers assume their batteries are fine until their watches stop running, our NY watch repair facility recommends that clients schedule a replacement every two years. After this point, there is a risk that battery acid will leak into the mechanism and destroy it.

Proud patriarch watches on after taking his own place in Test history

Ajouté le 5/12/2011

''IT'S smashing.'' The distinctive reaction of John Pattinson to his son James's brilliant debut is a reminder of this family's rare place in Test cricket history. A native of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, the Victorian roof tiler is the only man on the planet to have two sons play for different nations. The last time it was done was 112 years ago.

Older brother Darren, now 32, made a solitary appearance for England in 2008, plucked from obscurity by the mother country but never called upon again. James, 11 years his junior, looks like playing many more times for Australia. A sensational 5-27 that put New Zealand to the sword in the first Test in Brisbane, leading Michael Clarke's side to a nine-wicket win well inside four days, will make sure of that.

The debutant's father was in the crowd at the Gabba as he claimed three wickets in four balls during his incredible first over of the day, riding every step as the young speedster charged in endeavouring to secure a famous hat-trick. In the end, Pattinson was denied that rarest of additions to the CV but that did little to dispel the notion that Australia, fresh from the discovery of Patrick Cummins, has another fast bowling sensation on its hands.

Unlike Darren, who plied his trade for years in the Victorian club ranks with Dandenong before being promoted to the Sheffield Shield and then briefly by England, James's rise to stardom was almost preordained.

A junior World Cup bowler for Australia, the young Pattinson had already broken through to the national limited-overs teams and toured with the Test squad before his selection last week. In Cricket Australia terms, it is called being ''in the system''.

Pattinson's steady rise, and the proximity of his first Test, at least allowed his father to witness this special occasion. It was something he was unable to do when Darren played against South Africa in Leeds three years ago after being picked sensationally during a stint in English county cricket and only named to play on the morning of the match.

''It's been coming. It's been built up over the past couple of years, not being big-headed or anything, that he was going to play,'' said John Pattinson, who moved his family to Doveton, Victoria, in 1985, five years before James was born. ''It didn't come out of the blue. Darren's was more a surprise and a shock, whereas this has slowly been coming.''

What wasn't entirely expected was how quickly Pattinson would make his mark at Test level, and how fast he would bowl. He repeatedly ventured within a whisker of the 150km/h mark during his rampage through the Kiwi top order. ''In Twenty20s [James] has bowled high 140s before, but not in the Shield games,'' Pattinson snr said. ''He's had trouble with his back, stress fractures, so he's had to watch what he's been doing. But now he's feeling pretty fit so he's starting to bowl a bit quicker.''

Smacked around in his first Test over on Thursday - New Zealand's Brendon McCullum hit him for three fours - Pattinson could not have responded better. ''He said he wasn't nervous the first over but he was on the second,'' his father said.

''Because he got hit around the first over he was really nervous on the next. But he settled down and did all right. He was bowling to the plan. There weren't bad balls - they were pitched up, trying to get a nick, just the same as he bowled this morning.''
